The nursery school program (2.5 to 5 years old) is open each weekday from 7:00-6:00 p.m. Each classroom is planned for the daily care of 15 children to 2 loving and experienced caregivers with a 3rd roving teacher who helps assist and cover breaks.
We view young children as capable, competent, and curious about the world around them. Our classrooms are intentionally planned with this image of the child in mind. Inspired by the Reggio Emilia approach, our teachers serve as collaborators in the learning process and plan curriculum based on the interests of the children. This child-centered pedagogy focuses on the infinite ways that children can express, explore, and connect their thoughts, feelings, and imaginings. This concept is often referred to by educators as, “The Hundred Languages of Children.” With this philosophy in mind, our environments are designed to encourage drawing, sculpting, dramatic play, music and movement, writing, building, cooking, painting and more. Through these enriching opportunities, the development of the whole child is supported and nurtured.
